Horses In colour

"Horses in Colour" is a richly layered mixed-media series that explores the noble form of the horse through multiple dimensions of texture and symbolism. Each piece is built through successive layers of colour and technique, incorporating elements inspired by Native American horse paint symbols. The works are created through a complex process of application and reduction - laying down color, distressing, scraping away, and reapplying - creating depth through both physical texture and visual archaeology.

The pieces combine stenciled forms with free-flowing liquid acrylics, while incised marks and relief patterns create a compelling interplay between surface and depth. Delicate line work weaves through the layers, sometimes emerging from beneath, sometimes flowing over the surface, resulting in works that feel both ancient and contemporary. Each horse emerges from its richly worked background as both a physical presence and a carrier of symbolic meaning.
